This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 6 electric sedan review. 2023 World Car Awards: IONIQ 6 wins World Car of the Year, World Electric and Vehicle and World Car Design of the year. Hyundai’s goal is to create unique EV’s, each one to be different from the next having their own look and design. The IONIQ 6 is sleek with a low nose, active air flaps, an elliptical wing inspired spoiler, a new Hyundai H emblem design in the front and rear, flushed door handles, 18” or 20” black wheels and more than 700 parametric pixels found throughout the vehicle. The IONIQ 6 has a low drag coefficient of 0.22, the lowest for a Hyundai model and it offers 5.6” of ground clearance. The Interior of the IONIQ 6 is spacious with plenty of legroom and a flat floor in the rear. It comes standard with dual 12.3” screens under one piece of glass. The cabin feels open and comfortable with a few interior colour options including standard black cloth and black or grey leatherette upholstery. This electric sedan has a 77.4 kWh battery with RWD models getting up to 581 km/361 miles of range. AWD models up to 509 km/316 miles and with larger 20” wheels, a little less 435 km/270 miles. AWD models have a 74 kW front electric motor and 165 kW in the rear. RWD models 168 kW rear electric motor. RWD models have 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and AWD 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. In the US, there is also a base standard range RWD model coming this summer. It has 149 horsepower and up to 240 miles of range. In Canada, the Preferred RWD LR model is $54,999 CAD, Preferred AWD LR $57,999 CAD and Preferred AWD LR with the Ultimate Package $63,999 CAD In the US, RWD SE SR $41,600 USD, SE LR $45,500 USD, SEL LR $47,700 USD and Limited LR $52,600 USD. AWD SE LR $49,000 USD, SEL LR $51,200 USD and Limited LR $56,100 USD. We are driving the Hyundai IONIQ 6 AWD Long Range model with the Ultimate package. This Canadian top trim is priced at $63,999 CAD. It is equivalent to the US AWD Limited LR model for $56,100 USD. This model with the larger 20” wheels gets up to 435 km/270 miles of range and has a 74 kW front electric motor and 165 kW in the rear. It has 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. The IONIQ 6 comes standard with a heat pump and battery heating system, dual 12.3” screens, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, stain resistant cloth seats, a power driver seat and manual passenger seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and 18” wheels. Add the Ultimate package in Canada to get the sunroof, a power passenger seat with lumbar support, leatherette, ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, heated rear seats, a head-up display, Bose sound system, surround view monitor and blind view monitor. In the US, one up from the base model IONIQ 6 adds a wireless charger and leatherette upholstery. The top trim has the same features that are in the Canadian Ultimate package with the addition of the heated steering wheel, it is not standard on the base model in the US. The IONIQ 6 can support both a 400 volt and 800 volt charging infrastructure. With a 350 kW charger, the IONIQ 6 can charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes. It can also recoup approximately 100 km/65 miles in 5 minutes with a DC fast charger. The standard 10.9 kW on-board charger completes a full charge with a Level 2 charger in just over 7 hours. There is also an available vehicle to load function. US buyers will receive two years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions at Electrify America. The IONIQ 6 qualifies for the Federal EV rebate in Canada of $5,000 and rebates in participating provinces. This electric vehicle does not qualify for a tax credit in the US.
