Almost two years after we first laid our eyes on it, Bengaluru-based Simple Energy has launched its electric scooter, the One. Prices for the Simple One start at Rs 1.45 lakh for the single-tone colours and Rs 1.55 lakh for the dual-tone colour options (all prices ex-showroom Bengaluru, including revised FAME 2 subsidy). This is quite a jump from Simple’s originally announced price of Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) for the One. The Simple One is a premium electric scooter that promises the highest range compared to any other electric scooter in the market today. For this, the One gets a fixed as well as a removable battery pack, with a combined capacity of 5kWh, which together promise an IDC range of 212km (while keeping 6 percent battery capacity in the bank). These batteries power a massive 8.5kW motor that makes 72Nm of peak torque, which Simple claims can propel the One from 0 to 40kmph in 2.77 seconds on to a top speed of 105kmph. If that claim is true, then this would also make the Simple One the quickest electric scooter in India as well. The Simple One is also packed with all the connected features we have now come to expect from premium electric scooters, along with all-LED lighting and massive 30-litre underseat storage space. The Simple One is available in 6 different colours - Brazen Black, Namma Red, Azure Blue, Grace White, Brazen X (dark grey with red) and Light X (white with red). Deliveries for the Simple One are said to start from June 06, 2023.
