For the latest Toyota Tacoma pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/toyota/tacoma/ 2024 brings a truly unwieldy number of improvements to the Toyota Tacoma. The 4th generation Tacoma is now built on Toyota’s TNGA-F global truck platform, just like its Tundra and Sequoia kin. It’s got a boxed steel frame. Rear leaf springs are still found on lower trims, but higher trims offer a coil-spring multilink setup. The steering system is now electrically powered. And disc brakes are now standard throughout the lineup. As for body styles, there’s the familiar 4-door double cab with either a 5- or 6-foot bed. There’s also a new 2-door XtraCab that comes exclusively with 2 seats and a 6-foot bed. Speaking of the bed, volume has increased by 7 percent and there’s a power open and close function for the tailgate. For drivetrains, a 4x2 is standard. 4-wheel drive with a 2-speed transfer case is optional. For engines, there are 2. Engine one, is a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder whose output varies. And yeah, that’s right. You can get a 6-speed manual transmission, only with the double cab though. 2.4L Turbo SR 8sp Auto: 228 hp, 243 lb-ft I-Force 6sp Manual: 270 hp, 310 lb-ft I-Force 8sp Auto: 278hp, 317 lb-ft Engine two, the i-Force Max, is also a 2.4L turbo but it’s been hybridized, creating a noticeable increase in power. 2.4L Turbo Hybrid 8sp Auto: 326 hp, 465 lb-ft Interestingly, max tow comes with the weaker i-Force engine, topping out at 6,500 pounds while the i-Force max can tow 6,000 pounds. Also interesting, the i-Force max comes standard with a 2400W AC inverter. Seems handy. If you plan to tow, there’s an integrated brake controller, 360 camera, and various other features to keep your trailer attached and pointed in the right direction. Among the trims, we don’t have images of the base SR, the fancy Limited, or the newly returned TRD PreRunner. But here’s the TRD Sport that you can get with a manual transmission. Man, that looks good. Here’s the TRD Pro, whose 2.5” Fox shocks, 33-in Goodyear tires, front stabilizer bar disconnect, standard i-Force Max engine, and electronic locking rear differential will help you get maximally gnarly when off-roading. Other elements to note. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on all trims and includes full-speed dynamic cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorcyclist detection. The Tacoma can even bring itself to a safe stop if the drive is incapacitated. Smart key access is also standard. Saints be praised. The base infotainment screen is 8 inches and features wireless Apple Carplay and Android auto. There’s an optional 14-inch screen. And the Tacoma will be built in Toyota’s Baja California and Guanajuato plants in Mexico. We’ve got a new Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, and now a new Tacoma. The midsize pickup truck category is looking as vibrant as ever. We won’t know pricing or fuel economy info until closer to when the Tacoma goes on sale late in 2023. But none of that matters. Toyota is gonna sell every Tacoma they can make. 00:00 2024 Toyota Tacoma 0:11 Exterior 0:33 Mechanical Details 1:25 Configurations 1:48 Interior 3:12 Engine 3:28 Manual Transmission 4:25 Trim Levels 6:45 Competitors
