Members of the French Armed Forces embarked in amphibious ship FNS Dixmude received a warm welcome at the Port of Townville, one of many stops during Mission Jeanne D’Arc 2023. As part of the exercise a French joint naval force of approximately 800 personnel will undertake a circumnavigation of the globe from February to July 2023. Personnel will conduct numerous engagements with regional partners including Australia to support the sovereignty of French overseas territories, and strengthen cooperation and interoperability with like-minded partners. French Army personnel will participate in a military skills competition with 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, which will include a 5km weighted march, obstacle course, swim and other activities under fatigue. The activities aim to enhance cooperation and interoperability across the two militaries and strengthen the important people-to-people links. Want even more videos like this?
