WE RESCUED ANOTHER ONE! I came across a post on Facebook for a mare lot# 9937 at Bowie Texas Livestock at the end of last week. She seems to be lame in the back legs like so many of our other rescued horses here at the foundation and probably the reason she was dumped at the livestock yard. We need your help to get her the medical attention she needs to live out a comfortable retirement here on our farm. From the video from the livestock yard it looks like she has some other wounds that need to be treated as well. We don't know what they are from but we have arranged after we pick her up to get her to the vet the same day. The wounds look to sores of some kind but we won't know for sure until we pick her up and we want to make sure she doesn't have an infection or other medical concerns. Welcome Lot#9937 to the Big Hoof Foundation Family! The foundation had some money for the bail that was $1,242. Cory and I funded the rest of the bail. We will also need funds for transport which will be around $300. Medical expenses are unknown right now but usually initial vet visits for new rescues with blood work, xrays etc can be anywhere from $500-$1000. And there is also the cost of feed! Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Big Hoof Foundation to help us save more of these precious lives. We have a temporary page set up on the Fletcher Farms Amarillo website until we can complete the foundations website. https://www.fletcherfarmsamarillo.com... Thank you everyone for your continued support in saving these gentle giants! We could not be saving these lives without you! If you would like a donation letter please send us an email at [email protected]. We have created an Amazon wishlist for supplies that we need if you would like to support us in that way. HF&C Amarillo has offered to help us with anyone wanting to send a gift/donation of Alfa-Pro to the horses. They do offer a discount if you purchase per pallet (40 - 50 pound bags) $16.95 per bag by the pallet. WE go through about 3-1/2 bags per day to feed all 13 horses (175 pounds per day). We also purchase square bales of coastal hay from HF&C. We use 3 bales per day to feed all the horses. Square bales of hay are $16.75 each.
