Ozzy the tawny owl is looking for somewhere to nest. It is a little late for tawny owls to nest this year which makes me think this owl pair's first clutch may have failed. It's nice to see they may try again at Ash Wood. I assumed they must have nested elsewhere, off camera. CLUTCH FAIL Sadly the sight of Ozzy nest scraping back in Ash Tree is bitter sweet since it means the pair may have lost their first egg clutch. SECOND BROOD It is rare for tawny owls to try for a second brood but it can happen if the female is still in the process of laying or still incubating eggs. This happened to this pair back in 2021 when the nest they chose was chewed by a squirrel and the eggs fell. Thankfully they tried again at Ash Tree and raised two chicks that year.
