Kunigal was an important stop back then, and I remember pit stops for breakfast here in the nineties when quality eateries were hard to find, barring places like Hotel Parimala that first opened doors over four decades ago. Since then, a new highway has emerged that bypasses most such places. On a recent road trip to Chikmagalur though, I decided to stop at Hotel Parimala and rediscovered for myself a culinary institution that takes great pride in its age-old traditions that places great emphasis on serving quality fare to customers at prices that also seem to be an honest echo to the past.
