So for the day, we welcomed Sophie from Ryan and Sophie Sailing. If you've been following their videos as well (and you definitely should) you'll know that they're on the lookout to trade their current boat in for something newer. The question for them is do they buy new or build new? We figured we would put her to the test to see if she has what it takes (both in skill and desire) to build a boat. We put her through almost every task imaginable - sanding down fiberglass; filling spots with thickened resin; glassing (in easy spots AND hard); and then finally ended the day with fairing. For a beginner, her skills were top notch - to the point we'll gladly welcome her back to help any day. But after we put her through all that work, will she ever want to do boat building again?
